Pataya Beach

This was an interesting experience we all had, especially since leaving at 6:30, or 6:50 as it turned out to happen was great for the half of us who had gone to bed 2 hrs prior to waking up. After getting Steph and Alice up, we eventually made our way to the sky rain and after the 6 block walk and walk back to the bus station 1 block from our sky train stop we got our tickets for 8:30, being now 7:30. Anyways, following the pack just because it is easier then trying to lead when your tired is not the best option, I’m finding out over and over again. Twice that morning, the walking the wrong way and then letting the group find where to buy tickets as there were several other companies with buses leaving before 8:30.

Once we were dropped off by the bus a couple hours later it was another period of confusion as what was the right way to get to the beach. Initially we were approached by a lot of truck taxis and most of the group wasn't having that as it wasn't the meter taxi we had all become accustomed to and some thought they couple walk. However, after we crossed the busy and big road we saw that the beach was no close walk and after some debate found a taxi truck to take all 8 of us for only 100 BHT. The truck taxis are a great experience in and of themselves as yep, you can hang off the back like ridding a truck in the states.. Except here they have two sudo frames for you to stand in on either side. It was fun.

Breakfest was however very disapointing, as Starbucks is bad in the US and worse here. LOL.

Finding a spot on the beach was only a matter of paying 30 BHT ($1).

Jet Skis are sooooo much fun. Jessie, Steph, and I really wanted to rent one and so we dragged Eric into it too, renting two two-seaters for half an hour at 350 BHT a person ($10). I drove Steph and Jessie took Eric out. Never have driven one before I was a little worried, but 5 mins in and I was doing 180 turns while going full bore. I kept getting close to the other jet ski and the only problem we had was tapping once when both were just floating. Steph and I also thought it would try and be funny to splash the other guys whenever they were standing still.

The only problem was that their was some damage on my jet ski when we got back. Me and Jessie had only floated into each other once, and with out insurance i was a little worried. But after having Steph, Eric, and Jessie walked away i talked with the two different owners for a little bit. It was easy to have the owner of the other one, say that we were all good and after talking to the other lady for a bit, and having the other owner talk to her i thin as it was all in thai, i convinced here the jet ski was fine and it was just weak platic that the water ripped away from the jet ski. In the end everything was Mai Pen Rai (It is nothing or whatever).

After that i just hang out and took a nap on the beach followed by the no 1 Thai activity, shopping. We walked up and down the board walk stopping at different shops and eventually an ally of shops checking out fake watches, foakleys, and tee's. All in all it was a good day as I gots me a pair of Foakleys and just the right amount of burn.
